Latest tidbit re the summer nuptials of Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock — The Eagles will perform the night before the wedding, in a concert for the people of Monaco.
Is that a threat or a promise?
It’s a bad idea for so many reasons:
1) Prince Albert should be trying to minimize the twenty-year age gap between himself and his fiancee, not exaggerate it by wheeling out a band he listened to in high school, before Charlene was born.
2) I’m all for full-employment of aging baby boomers, but aren’t The Eagles most often found at county fairs these days?
3) The Eagles’ Greatest Hits speak for themselves. Endless opportunities for puns here. Take it away, readers!
UPDATE: On June 13th the Palace announced an opening act: Jason Hartman is not only a South African, like the bride-to-be, but he was also born after The Eagles started singing. Good save.

Leslie, I stand corrected! I’ll just “Take It Easy” 🙂
You are so, so wrong. They played 3 sold out nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in April 2010 and I got to go to one of them. It was amazing. There were people of all ages there. Trust me, they aren’t playing county fairs! Most of their tour in the US was sold out.
